Draft 2024 – 2025 Annual Action Plan

Public Hearing

Sarasota County has published for public comment the proposed Federal Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Annual Action Plan for the purpose of allocating funds to various eligible activities for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funding sources may be supplemented or matched with other Federal or State resources.

The Annual Action Plan identifies proposed projects and activities that County plans to fund in the next federal Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2024, and ending September 30, 2025. These projects and activities are intended to benefit eligible low- and moderate-income, homeless, and special needs persons in the community. Funding is also programmed to administer these grants.

In the next program year, the County anticipates the following entitlement grant allocations. All allocations are subject to final approval by the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners; therefore, the County reserves the right to adjust, add, or remove projects prior to plan adoption.

Sarasota County’s 30-day public comment period begins on May 30, 2024, and ends on June 30, 2024. All comments regarding Sarasota County’s plans for federally funded projects are due no later than June 30, 2024. A public hearing with the Board of County Commissioners will be held on July 10, 2024, to approve the Federal FY 2024 Annual Action Plan for submittal to HUD.

Federal FY 2022 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER)

Sarasota County is preparing their annual Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) which summarizes the accomplishments of the year ending September 30, 2023.  Two meetings will be held to receive public input on the prior year’s performance.

GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

For the 33rd consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to Sarasota County for its budget. This is also the third time receiving both the Special Performance Measure Recognition and the Triple Crown Medallion. To qualify for the budget award, the office had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.
